It’s Wednesday, which means… new grocery ads are out! Ok there goes proof I’m a dork. Usually I do my grocery shopping on Monday afternoons since I only work 1/2 day on Mondays. But this Monday I had a 4-hour rehearsal for the school’s fine arts concert I was doing a/v for. The concert was last night, and went great by the way. No hiccups. Literally or figuratively.
So knowing that I had a super packed week ahead, my genius self decided to make 3 new recipes this week. See? Genius. Not really. If they’re all super quick, whip-em-up-in-5-minutes, and amazingly delicious, then it’s genius. But probably one out of every three new recipes I try are ones I’d make again, so the odds were already against me from the start this week.
That being said, last night’s dinner was less than spectacular. Not only was I rushing to the grocery store to pick up chicken, since of course I had not gotten it on Monday, but then I was scrambling to follow a new recipe, cook it, eat, and be on my way to the concert in about an hour total.
Dinner wasn’t terrible, mind you. It wasn’t the worst I’ve ever made. It was edible. But that’s about all it had going for it. Oh, and the chicken was cooked through, even though I was rushed. That was good. Besides that, it was pretty much a blah meal. Which was disappointing because I had really wanted to share a great recipe with you all. Unfortunately now you’ll have to wait.
The positive? I made rice. Plain white steamed rice. If rice is on the table, JW is happy. It is his favorite “starchy” side dish. He would be happy having rice every day. He will pass up both potatoes and homemade yeast rolls for rice. Me? No way. Give me potatoes AND a yeast roll, please. Two yeast rolls, I want two.
